History & Politics – Post-16

Our Curriculum

This one year course examines the relationships between Crown and Church, then Crown and Parliament, in order to give a broad understanding of the evolution of governance in Great Britain. It continues into the 20th Century world and explores the ideas and implementation of Socialism, Communism and Capitalism.

The course enables students to understand the past and to make sense of the present, adding an important dimension to the understanding of the building of our society. Students will be informed of the ways in which individuals and groups define and interpret political ideologies that seek to shape the country and world in which we live.
