Music

Our Curriculum

In Music, students will listen and learn about music from different times, places and cultures. Students will learn about different approaches and techniques. They will be encouraged to express their creativity, to experiment and so compose their own pieces.

No previous musical experience is necessary; all students have the opportunity to learn to play keyboards, guitar or drums. As they progress and gain confidence they may choose to perform as a soloist or as part of an ensemble at events in school. This develops their performance and social communication skills. Learning to play a musical instrument can benefit mental health, develop fine motor skills, improve self-confidence and develop resilience.

Music enables students to achieve an Arts Award qualification at a level suitable for them.
